Four softball state champions were crowned earlier this month in Akron, with Lakota West, Triway, Strasburg and Wheelersburg all hoisting the trophy in their respective divisions.

SBLive Ohio covered games all over the state in 2022, including the Division I, Division II, Division III and Division IV state championship games.

Now it's time to hand out some individual awards, and all four state champions are represented.

Here's a look at our all-state teams spanning all OHSAA classifications, as well as the player of the year and pitcher of the year.

Player of the Year - KK Mathis, Lakota West

Mathis did a little bit of everything this season in leading Lakota West to the Division I state title. In the circle, she racked up a 23-2 record and struck out 189 batters in 147 innings. At the plate, she hit 10 homers and drove in 55 runs. She hit .600 on the season with 16 doubles and six triples and struck out just twice all season. In the state semifinals, she had two hits – including a double – and drove in four runs. Then in the state championship game, she had a double and a homer and drove in four runs again. She picked up the win in the circle in both games as well.

Pitcher of the Year - Carter Wachtel, Triway

The sophomore backed up an impressive freshman season with an even better sophomore campaign with a 25-1 record. In the postseason, Wachtel was 7-0 and struck out 77 hitters in 43 innings pitched. She allowed just 12 total hits and two earned runs, while tossing two no-hitters in the postseason. In the state tournament, she went 2-0 and struck out 25 hitters in 14 innings while allowing just four hits to lead Triway to the Division II state title. She gave up only one run, which was unearned.
