How the SBLive Ohio Top 25 fared in week 7: Moeller and Winton Woods pick up huge wins

Moeller took down Elder with ease, while Winton Woods defeated Kings in a de facto Eastern Cincinnati Conference title matchup

In the highest profile matchup of the week, No. 3 Archbishop Moeller led 42-7 after two quarters against No. 8 Elder and took home a 42-14 win.

In other action between Top 25 teams, No. 10 Medina defeated No. 12 Mentor and No. 15 Winton Woods beat No. 17 Kings. 

Meanwhile, No. 6 St. Edward had no problem with No. 11 St. Ignatius on Saturday night.

How the Top 25 fared:

1. Lakota West, West Chester (7-0) 

The Firebirds keep rolling, this time defeating Mason 37-7.

2. Archbishop Hoban, Akron (7-0) 

Another out-of-state opponent, another win for the Knights. This time, Hoban took care of St. Francis (New York) 42-15

3. Archbishop Moeller, Cincinnati (7-0) 

Moeller jumped out to a 42-7 halftime lead and easily handled No. 9 Elder 42-14

4. Princeton, Cincinnati (6-1) 

The Vikings shut out Oak Hills 42-0 in Greater Miami Conference play.

5. Massillon (6-1) 

The Tigers took a break from playing in-state competition and defeated Middletown (Delaware) 42-24

6. St. Edward, Lakewood (6-1) 

The Eagles manhandled rival No. 11 St. Ignatius 48-6 on Saturday night.

7. Toledo Central Catholic (6-1) 

After a loss in week 1, the Fighting Irish haven’t lost. This week, they defeated Clay 45-7.

8. Elder, Cincinnati (5-2) 

Elder took a 42-14 loss at the hands of No. 3 Moeller.

9. Avon (6-1) 

Avon picked up its fourth win in a row with a 63-42 victory over Olmsted Falls.

10. Medina (6-1) 

Another week, another offensive showcase for the Bees as they defeated No. 12 Mentor 52-38.

11. St. Ignatius, Cleveland (4-2) 

The Wildcats lost to rival No. 6 St. Edward 48-6 on Saturday night.

12. Mentor (3-3) 

The Cardinals couldn’t keep up with the offensive firepower of No. 10 Medina in a 52-38 loss.

13. Riverside, Painesville (6-1) 

Riverside just keeps rolling with a 49-7 win over Eastlake North.

14. Highland, Medina (7-0) 

The Hornets keep smothering opposing offenses as they defeated Revere 49-0. Highland has allowed just two scores in the past five weeks, outscoring their opponents 248-13 over that span.

15. Winton Woods, Cincinnati (7-0) 

In a matchup of two of the best teams in the area, Winton Woods defeated No. 17 Kings 28-23 on Friday night.

16. Fairfield (6-1) 

The Indians bounced back from last week’s loss with a 34-13 win over Hamilton on Friday.

17. Kings, Kings Mills (6-1) 

Kings lost for the first time this season, falling to No. 15 Winton Woods 28-23.

18. Walsh Jesuit, Cuyahoga Falls (5-2) 

The Warriors got back in the win column with a 35-9 victory over Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin.

19. St. Xavier, Cincinnati (2-5) 

The Bombers keep struggling, this time in a 34-7 loss to Trinity (Kentucky).

20. Centerville (6-1) 


The Elks got back to their old form with a 37-6 road win over Beavercreek.

21. Springfield (5-1) 

After a stunning loss last week, the Wildcats got back on track with a 56-14 win over Springboro.

22. Avon Lake (6-1) 

Amherst Steele was no match for the Shoremen Friday night and Avon Lake rolled to a 55-14 victory.

23. West Holmes, Millersburg (7-0)

In their first week in the SBLive Ohio Top 25, the Knights easily took care of Lexington with a 48-14 win.

24. Marion Local, Maria Stein (7-0)


The Flyers could be in the SBLive Ohio Top 25 to stay after a 47-0 win over Fort Recovery.

25. Hudson (7-0) 

The Explorers jumped back into the SBLive Ohio Top 25 and promptly defeated Nordonia 28-14
