8 Ohio high school football players injured in bus crash on way to playoff game
Eight high school football players were hospitalized for minor injuries after a chain-reaction bus crash occurred on the way to a playoff game near Cincinnati, Ohio.
TV station WHIO 7 reported a multi-vehicle crash involving three buses containing the Colerain High School football team, which was on its way to a playoff game against Mason Friday night.
The injuries were characterized as non-life-threatening and the game was not canceled. Mason beat Colerain, 14-7.
"We are fortunate to be here," Colerain football coach Shawn Cutright told Fox affiliate WXIX-TV at the game.
The buses were in the far right lane when the lead bus stopped abruptly after experiencing a stop in traffic, police told WHIO. All three buses and a Ford pickup truck then crashed into one another.
Mason football players conducted a group prayer before the game for those involved, according to the news station.
