Ohio's top high school softball players 2023: Meet the state’s best outfielders

Who are the top outfielders in Ohio high school softball in 2023?

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a look at some of the top softball players in Ohio. We started with the pitchers and the catchers. Now we will take a look at the outfielders.

Note: Some players may excel at multiple positions. Do not be alarmed to see someone who plays outfield is not be on this list, but on another list as we continue throughout the positions.

Ashley Arnold, Centerville, senior

A Rhode Island signee, Arnold earned second-team all-state honors in Division I a year ago. Arnold had 10 home runs and 40 RBI to lead the Greater Western Ohio Conference in both categories and batted .500 with 37 hits.

Tionna Bright, West Chester Lakota West, senior

While helping the Firebirds finish 28-4 and win the Division I state championship, Bright batted .386 with 19 RBI and 16 stolen bases. She also walked 20 times and had three assists while playing in center field.

Kyla Conley, Mount Orab Western Brown, senior

Conley was first-team all-SBAAC each of the last two seasons, finishing with two home runs and 11 doubles while batting .500 with 38 hits last spring. She helped the Broncos win a Division I district title in 2021 and to 14 wins a year ago.

Sydney Doyle, Clarksville Clinton-Massie, sophomore

Doyle provided an immediate impact last spring while helping the Falcons earn a Division II district runner-up finish. She batted .539 with eight home runs, 37 RBI and 33 runs scored and added 14 stolen bases and 11 doubles.

Camryn Eckhart, Holland Springfield, sophomore

One of the breakout stars from last year’s Division I state tournament was Eckhart, who homered and drove in three runs to help the Blue Devils beat Watkins Memorial 4-2 in a state semifinal. Also a catcher, Eckhart helped Springfield finish 25-6.

Emma Flinner, Wooster Triway, senior

Flinner started in right field and hit a double as Triway beat Jonathan Alder 2-1 to win the Division II state championship last season. An Ashland signee, Flinner was first-team all-Northeast District and Honorable mention all-state.

Makenna Hoying, Russia, senior

Hoying helped the Raiders finish 27-2 and earn a Division IV regional runner-up finish. She was the SCAL Player of the Year and first-team all-state as she batted .458 with eight home runs and 35 RBI. Hoying also went 17-2 with a 1.92 ERA at pitcher.

Addi Inskeep, Minster, sophomore

A second-team all-state honoree in Division IV, Inskeep helped the Wildcats earn the No. 1 seed for the district tournament and finish 19-7. She batted .467 with five home runs, 25 RBI and 32 runs scored.

Makayla Jackman, Lincolnview, senior

Jackman started in right field and batted leadoff last season as the Lancers finished 25-5 and were Division IV state runners-up. She has signed with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College after being named first-team all-district and honorable mention all-state.

Emily Liskai, Whitehouse Anthony Wayne, senior

A West Texas A&M signee, Liskai was first-team all-Northwest District and second-team all-state last season as the Generals reached a Division I regional semifinal. She went 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBI in a 15-0 win over Sylvania Northview in a district final last season.

Madison Louth, Rockford Parkway, junior

Louth was first-team all-Northwest district and second-team all-state in Division IV as she batted .540 with 47 hits, 36 runs scored and 25 stolen bases. She also went 5-3 with 49 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings pitched and committed just one error on defense.

Eliza Maloney, Huron, senior

Maloney, who has committed to Toledo, missed all of last season with a knee injury. As a sophomore, however, she batted .540 with eight home runs, five triples, 31 RBI and 11 stolen bases while splitting time between shortstop and center field and also struck out 87 batters in 51 1/3 innings pitched.

Rachel Nusky, Hamilton Badin, senior

A first-team all-GCL honoree, this center fielder batted .415 with a program-record 23 stolen bases last season as the Rams went 13-10 and earned the No. 3 seed for the Division II district tournament.

Sam Pennington, Mason, senior

An Ohio state signee, Pennington led the Greater Miami Conference in hits (56) and stolen bases (34) while helping Mason go 20-6 for its ninth consecutive season of winning at least 20 games. She batted .596 with 39 runs scored and a .610 OBP while getting at least one hit in all but two games.

Sam Peterkoski, Berea-Midpark, senior

Peterkoski was a first-team all-SWC honoree last spring as she batted .461 with a .500 OBP. A Tiffin signee, she holds the program's single-season records for stolen bases (29), triples (9) and runs scored (44).

Lexi Scott, Chillicothe Zane Trace, senior

While helping the Pioneers go 13-9, Scott batted .467 with seven home runs, 30 runs scored and 31 RBI and also added 12 stolen bases. She was first-team all-Southeast District.

Autumn Taylor, Ontario, junior

Taylor was a first-team all-Northwest District and honorable mention all-state honoree in Division II who batted .472 with five home runs, 25 hits, 22 RBI and 20 runs scored. She also had a .552 OBP and a 1.439 slugging percentage as her team was the No. 3 seed for the district tournament.

Ella Teubner, Lebanon, sophomore

Teubner made second-team all-state in Division I in her first prep season as the Warriors went 22-6 and were district runners-up. She batted .628 with seven home runs and 57 RBI and had 33 runs scored.

Chameron Vanden Eynden, Goshen, senior

Vanden Eynden was honorable mention all-state in Division II last season as she batted .581 while splitting time between center field and first base. She has committed to Ohio Wesleyan.

Izzie Wilson, Olentangy Berlin, senior

An Ohio University commit who was first-team all-Central District and second-team all-state in Division I, Wilson plays in center field and batted .519 with 23 RBI. She also set program records for home runs (5) and triples (7) in a season and led the Bears in runs scored (34), stolen bases (14), on-base percentage (.584) and slugging percentage (1.000).
