Worth a look: North Canton Hoover softball pulls off triple play in extra innings

The Vikings pulled off the feat in a tie game in the eighth inning

MASSILLON, Ohio - North Canton Hoover and Archbishop Hoban were hooked up in a tie game in the bottom of the eighth inning of their OHSAA Division I softball district semifinal on Monday when Hoover pulled off a play that has to be seen to believe.

Hoban left fielder Taylor Gerring led the inning off with a single and then catcher Sidney Conti walked to give the Knights runners on first and second with nobody out, needing just a run to win the game.

The next hitter - Kennedy Bray - hit a short fly ball to center field that Anna Jones caught and threw back to shortstop Lauren Moore at second base as the runner was already at third base. The other runner had strayed off first as well and Moore made the throw to first baseman Makayla Ball to finish the triple play.

Hoover went on to win the game 5-3 in 10 innings to move to Wednesday's district championship game against Massillon Jackson.
