Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Ohio high school Athlete of the Week for January 7-13. Read through the nominees and cast your vote. Dee Alexander, Purcell Marian girls basketball

Dropped 33 points in an 80-25 win over Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy to extend the Lady Cavs winning streak to 12 games.

Allie Baker, Huntington girls basketball

The junior guard put up 23 points and added seven rebounds and six steals to help down Zane Trace 60-42.

Marcus Blaze, Perrysburg wrestling

At the Maumee Bay Classic, he took home first place at 132 pounds with a pinfall at 1:06 in the championship match.

Derek Fairley, Lutheran West boys basketball 

Scored the winning layup with 21 seconds to go and finished with 17 points to pull in a 51-50 win over St. Vincent-St. Mary.

Katie Fox, Lakota West girls basketball 

Led all scorers with 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in a 65-56 win over Toledo Central Catholic at the Classic in the Country on Saturday. 

Cortez Freeman, Africentric boys basketball

The senior guard led the Nubians to a 64-53 win over Westerville South with 26 points and four steals.

Mya Hamilton, Unioto girls basketball

Led Unioto a 2-0 record for the week, scoring 28 points in a 79-28 victory over Paint Valley and dropping 32 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to defeat Westerville South 71-54.

Marcus Johnson, Garfield Heights boys basketball 

Scored a game-high 40 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 67-66 double-overtime victory over Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy (TX).

Jaxon Joy, Wadsworth wrestling

Was named the Maumee Bay Classic MVP while winning the title at 150 pounds by pinfall at 1:26. He also broke the OHSAA record for career takedowns. 

Olivia Klanac, Medina girls basketball

Scored her 1,000th career point and finished with 21 points to help defeat previously undefeated Strongsville 58-50.

Katie Maryo, Magnificat girls basketball

Knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points en route to a 65-36 win over Rocky River on Senior Night.

Jaylen Murphy, St. John’s Jesuit boys basketball

Poured in 32 points in the Titans’ 62-54 victory over Toledo Central Catholic.

Cade Norris, Hilliard Bradley boys basketball

Had a team-high 25 points and four assists in a 52-50 loss to Olentangy Orange.

Kam Sanders, Fairfield boys basketball

Scored a game-high 25 points and recorded five assists to defeat St. Vincent-St. Mary 76-69.

Jenna Slates, Green girls basketball

With her fifth board of the game, Slates broke the program record for all-time rebounds with 602. She finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds in a 78-45 loss to Solon.

Ronald Taylor, Lutheran East boys basketball

Scored a game-high 21 points in a 55-36 win over Isidore Newman (LA).

Quinn Woidke, St. Ignatius boys basketball

Hit the game-tying 3-pointer to force overtime against Centerville and finished with 27 points to help the Wildcats defeat the Elks 94-92 in double overtime.

Sophie Ziel, Bishop Watterson girls basketball

Led all scorers with 20 points and hit four 3-pointers to lead the Eagles to a 46-36 victory over Francis DeSales.
