Best college softball team of all time? A look back at the Oklahoma Sooners' high school careers

The Oklahoma Sooners finished the college softball season exactly where they started — on top of the world.

They won the Women's College World Series for the second straight season Thursday, finishing 59-3, making that an incredible two-year run of 115-7.

Oklahoma's blowout victory over Texas marked the program’s sixth WCWS championship, all of which have come under coach Patty Gasso, and its first back-to-back title wins since the 2016 and ’17 seasons.

Here's a look back at every 2022 Sooner's high school career before becoming a part of arguably the best college softball team ever.

Jocelyn Alo, James Campbell High School (Hawaii)

Alo was a two-time Gatorade High School Player of the Year and led James Campbell in Ewa Beach to three state championships. She also won a girls state championship in wrestling at 184 pounds. She hit .571 with 12 home runs as a senior in 2017 and .612 with eight homers as a junior.

Jordy Bahl, Papillion-LaVista High School (Nebraska)

The consensus No. 1 prospect in the class of 2021 was the 2020-21 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year and a two-time Gatorade Nebraska Player of the Year. Bahl had a 27-0 record with a 0.10 ERA in the circle and hit .510 with 20 home runs as a senior.

Rylie Boone, Owasso High School (Oklahoma)

Boone recorded a .514 batting average with 56 hits, 45 runs scored, 24 RBIs, 15 stolen bases and a pair of home runs during her senior year to receive all-state and all-region accolades. She also starred in basketball, leading Owasso to a 2018 6A state championship.

Alyssa Brito, Pacifica High School (California)

Brito hit .519 with six home runs over nine games in a senior season shortened by the coronavirus pandemic. She was defensive player of the year and earned first-team all-league honors in the Empire League as a junior while helping lead Pacifica to a league title.

Jayda Coleman, The Colony High School (Texas)

The consensus No. 1 prospect in the class of 2020 was named the 2019-20 Gatorade National Softball Player of the Year, also claiming the honor in Texas. Coleman finished her high school career with 279 career hits, 261 runs, a .702 batting average and 209 stolen bases.

Turiya Coleman, C.E. King High School (Texas)

Coleman earned first-team all-district honors all four years at C.E. King High School in Houston. She was the team's most valuable player all four years and defensive player of the year twice.

Hannah Coor, Esperanza High School (California)

Coor batted nearly .460 as a senior to earn a spot on the All-CIF SS Division 1 and SBLive 2021 All-Orange County softball team in 2021. She helped lead Esperanza to the Division I state title.

Lynnsie Elam, Chickasha High School (Oklahoma)

Elam led Chickasha to four district championships, three regional titles and two state championships. As a senior in 2017, she hit .491 with five home runs, 44 runs scored, 50 RBIs and 23 stolen bases, earning all-state honors.

Grace Green, Oakdale High School (California)

The three-time all-leaguer at Oakdale hit.458 as a junior in 2017 with 23 runs scored and 23 runs batted in, five doubles, four triples and five home runs. She posted a 0.81 ERA with 55 strikeouts in 52 innings pitched.

Emmy Guthrie, Lone Grove High School (Oklahoma)

The 2020-21 Gatorade Oklahoma Softball Player of the Year was a four-time conference pitcher of the year and 2020 4A District 2 player of the year for Lone Grove. She helped lead the Longhorns to state title games in 2017 and 2020.

Kinzie Hansen, Norco High School (California)

Hansen earned all-league honors in all three of her seasons at Norco and all-state recognition twice, leading her team to the CIF championship as a junior in 2018. As a junior, the catcher was named a first-team All-American and CIF MVP.

Tiare Jennings, St. Anthony High School (California)

The 2019-20 Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in California finished her high school career batting .581 to go with 111 hits, 61 RBIs and 16 home runs. She hit .710 with six home runs and 19 RBIs in a shortened senior season in 2020 and was named one of SBLive's L.A. County Athletes of the Year.

Jana Johns, Calhoun High School (Georgia)

Johns amassed 224 RBIs, 32 home runs and 69 doubles in her high school career at Calhoun, being named the 2016 Georgia Dugout Club's 3A Player of the Year after posting 19 home runs and 78 RBIs in her senior year.

Quincee Lilio, Great Oak High School (California)

Lilio committed to Oklahoma before she has even started high school at Great Oak. She hit .435 with 37 runs as a sophomore in 2019 as Great Oak finished as runners-up in the CIF Division I.

Grace Lyons, Sandra Day O'Connor High School (Arizona)

Lyons led Sandra Day O’Connor to the 6A state championship in 2016 as a sophomore. She hit .526 in 2017 with 47 runs scored, 35 RBIs, seven home runs, 14 doubles, three triples and nine stolen bases.

Nicole May, Foothill High School (California)

The 2018-19 Gatorade California Softball Player of the Year led Foothill to a 28-0 record and North Coast Section Division I Tournament championship her junior season. She had a 24-0 record, 0.32 ERA, 246 strikeouts and 13 walks in 151 innings pitched.

Macy McAdoo, Tuttle High School (Oklahoma)

An all-state and all-region right-handed pitcher out of Tuttle High School, McAdoo finished the 2018 season with a 0.97 ERA over 195 innings pitched with 303 strikeouts. 

Sophia Nugent, Los Alamitos High School (California)

Despite playing one of the toughest schedules in the state, Nugent hit .385 with seven home runs and 17 RBIs as a senior in the pandemic-shortened season. The catcher drew 25 walks in 22 games to finish with an OBP of .588, and a team-high OPS of 1.415 to earn SBLive All-Orange County honors.

Taylon Snow, Chino Hills High School (California)

Taylon Snow and her sister Tannon dominated together at Chino Hills. Taylon, a redshirt senior who transferred from Auburn, was a three-time All-American in high school and the 2013 California State Freshman of the Year.

Hope Trautwein, Hendrickson High School (Texas)

Trautwin was named the District 13-6A Pitcher of the Year in 2017 after leading the Hawks to a 27-3 record and a trip to the regional quarterfinals of the 2017 6A State Championship. She was a two-time all-district selection, including first-team honors as a senior.
