JENKS - Owasso turned its bats in the seventh inning to break a tie and get a 2-1 victory against Jenks in a key District 6A-3 game Monday evening at Finch Park.

A two-out RBI single from Bodie Amberson drove in Ram courtesy runner Jace Wiedmeier for what would eventually be the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning.

Pitcher Jackson Farrell, who would later be relieved by Wiedmeier, singled on one out to get Owasso (16-9 overall, 8-1 6A-3) going. Brandon Floyd advanced Wiedmeier with a base hit.

Amberson’s winning hit eventually came before Cooper Harrel struck out for the last out.

Hoping to outdo the Rams in the bottom frame for the win, the Trojans’ Chandler Fowler singled on one out to reach base. But Ike Owens grounded out to shortstop and Jett Calmus went down on strikes to end the game.

“It all just worked out for the Rams today,” Owasso coach Larry Turner said. “So we just got to flush it and go get ready for (Tuesday).”

Both teams take their series to Owasso Tuesday, with opening pitch set for 7 p.m.

The Rams are now tied with Broken Arrow (18-4, 8-1) for first place in the district. Jenks (15-8, 7-2) is now in third.

Amberson and Farrell each went 2-for-3 to lead Owasso at the plate.

Fowler produced the same numbers for the host.

Jenks struck first in the second inning. Tanner Primeaux hit a two-bagger, then was plated by a single from Fowler.

But the Trojans' 1-0 lead didn’t stand long as the Rams tied it in the third on a two-out RBI single, with Luke Willliams touching the plate. Williams got on base with a leadoff walk.

Farrell got the win on the hill. He pitched the entire game, forcing eight strikeouts, allowing one run on three hits, walking one.

“Jackson Farrell pitched an outstanding game (Monday),” Turner said. “Every time he has pitched this year, he has been great.

"Our kids expect to win every time he takes the mound; that is always a good feeling. He pitched well. We left a lot of guys (eight) on base, but fortunately, we were able to come out on top.”

After being scored on in the second inning, the Rams ended a threat with two runners on base, making a double play to end the side.

“We got a double play in that one inning to get out of a jam,” Turner said. “If you play routine baseball and mix in a really good player, it gives yourself a chance to win.

The loss went to Fowler, who relieved Blake Lamb in the seventh. Fowler yielded the go-ahead run on three hits and stuck out two batters. In his no decision, Lamb allowed one run on three hits, four walks and fanned four.
