Congratulations to Elkton pitcher Avree Block for being voted SBLive’s WaFd Bank Oregon High School Softball Player of the Week for May 16-22!

The junior had a strong all-around outing to help lead the Elks to a 15-0 win over Camas Valley in a Special District 3 game at Elkton. At the plate, Block had a hit, scored three runs, drove in two and stole a base. In the circle, she threw four shutout innings, giving up one hit while striking out 12 and walking three.

Block ran away with this week's honor, receiving 65.28% of the total vote. There were over 14,000 votes tallied this week!

The senior was 4 for 4 with a stolen base, two runs and two RBIs, helping the Pioneers post a 12-8 win over Nelson in a Mt. Hood Conference game at the Nelson Sports Complex.

Ashlynn Barron, Philomath

The senior went 4 for 5 with two stolen bases, two runs and six RBIs for the Warriors in a 14-13 loss to Baker in a Class 4A play-in game at Baker High School.

Abby Blair, Liberty

The senior, in her final home game, a Pacific Conference contest with Glencoe, struck out eight batters while also going 5 for 5 with three home runs.

Sydney Boren, Eagle Point

The junior shortstop had an amazing day, as she helped the Eagles sweep North Eugene in a Midwestern League doubleheader at North Eugene High School. In the two games, Boren went 7 for 8 with three home runs, including a grand slam in the second game, two doubles, seven runs and 13 RBIs.

Rachel Brandt, Southridge

The sophomore went 3 for 3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs, helping the Skyhawks post a 10-0 win over Beaverton in a Metro League game at Beaverton High School.

Paige Doerr, Marist Catholic

The junior went 4 for 4 with a home run, two doubles, three runs and four RBIs, helping the Spartans run to a 15-0 win over Elmira in a Sky Em League contest at Elmira High School.

Olivia Dunn, Grant

The senior went 3 for 5 with a grand slam, a double, two runs and seven RBIs, powering the Generals to a 12-10 win over Lincoln in a Portland Interscholastic League game at Hamilton Park.

Sadie Guyette, Tualatin

The freshman went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and three RBIs, helping the Timberwolves edge Marist Catholic 7-6 in a nonleague game at Tualatin High School.

Gracie Hamilton, Mazama

The senior went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a stolen base, three runs and two RBIs, helping the Spartans post a 10-0 win over Seaside in a Class 4A play-in game at Mazama High School.

Maddie Harris, Sweet Home

The senior hit and pitched the Huskies to a 12-2 win over Gladstone in a Class 4A play-in game at Sweet Home High School. In the circle, Harris gave up two unearned runs on five hits, while striking out six and walking one. At the plate, she had a double, a walk, a stolen base, two runs and an RBI.

Alyvia Holden, Lebanon

The junior pitcher went 2-0 in the circle for the week, striking out 14 batters while not giving up an earned run. Opposing batters hit for a .109 average against Holden, while she hit at a .500 clip.

Jenna Hopkins, Kennedy

Hopkins continued her standout junior season, hitting and pitching the Trojans to an 11-0, five-inning win over Sheridan in a Special District 2 game at Kennedy High School. At the plate, Hopkins went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, a run and an RBI. In the circle, she gave up two hits while striking out 13 and walking none.

Lily Jones, Roosevelt

The senior, who also is one of the top high school sprinters in state history, went 2 for 2 with a home run, two walks, three runs and an RBI, helping the Roughriders post a 13-1 win over McDaniel in a Portland Interscholastic League game at Roosevelt.

Morgan Kyle, Kennedy

The senior, a team captain, went 4 for 4 with a double, a stolen base, two runs and five RBIs, helping the Trojans post a 15-5 win over Sheridan in a Special District 2 game at Kennedy High School.

Maddie Lanter, Corbett

The junior went 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple and four RBIs, helping the Cardinals record a 7-3 win over Gladstone in a Tri-Valley League game at Gladstone High School.

Tyler McNeley, Lakeview

The junior pitched and hit the Honkers to a 13-0, five-inning win over Brookings-Harbor in a nonleague game at Phoenix High School. In the circle, McNeley threw five shutout innings, giving up one hit while striking out 13 and walking none. At the plate, she went 2 for 2 with a walk, three runs and an RBI. McNeley also struck out 17 in a 7-1 win over Brookings-Harbor. She then struck out 18 batters in a 5-3 win over Henley.

Gianna Micciche, Sunset

The freshman went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple, a run and two RBIs, helping propel the Apollos to a 7-2 win over Roosevelt in a nonleague game at Sunset High School.

Ginger Miller, Lincoln

The senior blasted a three-run homer during a nine-run third inning, helping the Cardinals run to an 11-8 win over McDaniel in a Portland Interscholastic League game at Hamilton Park.

Kinley Pappas, Sheldon

The sophomore catcher blasted three home runs and drove in five runs, helping the Irish post an 8-1 win over Marist Catholic in a nonleague game at Sheldon High School. For the week, Pappas went 6 for 13 with three home runs, a double, a triple, a walk, seven runs and 10 RBIs.

Delaney Qualls, Lincoln

The freshman went 2 for 3 with a stolen base, three runs and two RBIs, helping the Cardinals earn a 10-6 win over Ida B. Wells in the Council Crest Cup game at Jesuit High School.

Brooklyn Rayl, Baker

The freshman went 3 for 4 with two stolen bases, three runs and an RBI for the Bulldogs in their 14-13 win over Philomath in a Class 4A play-in game at Baker High School.

Carley Rogers, Churchill

The senior went 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs, powering the Lancers to a 5-4 win over Willamette in a Midwestern League contest at Willamette High School.

Emma Sheets, Lebanon

The sophomore had a game-winning three-run double for the Warriors in a 3-1 win over Dallas. In three games for the week, Sheets hit for a .700 average with five RBIs.

Emma Spalding, North Bend

The sophomore went 3 for 3 with a stolen base, two runs and three RBIs, helping the Bulldogs notch a 15-0 win over Springfield in a Midwestern League game at North Bend High School.

Malia Williams, Marist Catholic

The senior had a huge performance, both pitching and hitting, for the Spartans in a 15-0, four-inning win over Elmira in a Sky Em League game at Elmira High School. Williams pitched a perfect game, striking out 10. At the plate, she went 4 for 4 with four doubles, four runs and three RBIs.

Kaia Young, Ida B. Wells

The junior went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs and three RBIs for the Guardians in a 10-6 loss to Lincoln in the Council Crest Cup game at Jesuit High School.
