Bronny James, Sierra Canyon headline 16-team field for 2022 Les Schwab Invitational in Oregon

3-time defending Texas champion Duncanville also will make the trip to Liberty High School in Hillsboro this December

Bronny James and Sierra Canyon headline an impressive list of teams coming to Oregon for the annual Les Schwab Invitational holiday basketball tournament at Liberty High School in Hillsboro.

James, son of NBA superstar LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers, is ranked by ESPN as the No. 34 senior in the nation. The 6-foot-3 guard is being recruited by several major basketball programs, including the University of Oregon.

The Trailblazers of Los Angeles also feature 5-star prospect Isaiah Elohim, a 6-foot-5 junior guard being courted by Kansas, Kentucky and other big-time colleges.

Sierra Canyon won’t have an easy road to the LSI title, however.

Duncanville, a three-time defending Texas state champion, also will be taking the court at Liberty. The Panthers are led by Ron Holland, a 6-foot-8 power forward who has won two gold medals with USA Basketball. He’s a consensus top-10 player in the class of 2023 with offers from Oregon, Kansas, Kentucky, Texas, UCLA and others.

Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas and Brophy Prep of Phoenix will be two more teams to watch at the LSI. The Gaels have won nine Nevada state championships in the past 10 years and boast two top-50 players in 4-star junior guards Jase Richardson and John Paul Mobley. The Broncos are led by senior forward Arman Madi and junior guard Braeden Speed.

Sierra Canyon, Duncanville and Bishop Gorman each will have a place in our preseason boys basketball national Top 25, which will be released Monday.

Headlining the list of Oregon teams is West Linn, which features one of the country’s top point guards in University of Oregon commit Jackson Shelstad.

SBLive’s Andy Buhler, Connor Morrissette and Andrew Nemec will host an Instagram Live at noon Pacific to break down the field, discuss the best players and preview the tournament.
