Brackets for 2022 Capitol City Classic released: Modesto Christian, John Paul II headline strong boys field

The boys tournament runs Dec. 16-21 at Willamette University; girls goes Dec. 19-21 at Corban University

Organizers of the Capitol City Classic believe the 2022 tournament could be its most competitive field yet.

The first look at the prospective matchups in the annual pre-Christmas annual tournament in Oregon's capitol city came Thursday.

Scroll down for complete looks at both brackets.

The boys field is headlined by reigning CIF Open Division state runner-up Modesto Christian (California), Texas private school state champion John Paul II, and St. John Bosco (California). Those three schools will take on Jackson Shelstad and West Linn, which headlines a strong in-state field.

The boys tournament takes place Dec. 16-21 at Willamette University and the expanded, second-year Capitol Toyota girls bracket runs Dec. 19-21 at Corban University, both in Salem.
