Elijah Fields of Churchill had 85-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in back-to-back games in 2018.
Fields’ first kickoff-return touchdown came in Week 8, in a 58-20 win over Crater. Fields did it again the next Friday, helping the Lancers of west Eugene defeat Thurston 28-20 in a District 2 cross-over game.
Those two returns were the only nonoffensive scores for Churchill that season. The Lancers made the second round of the OSAA Class 5A playoffs, where they lost, 49-48, to Thurston.
