The Oregon high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 31 — 81 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Oregon will give you one significant number per day.

81

In Week 3 of the 2021 season, South Medford quarterback Deacon Edgar hooked up with Andrew Walker on an 81-yard passing touchdown at Lake Oswego. Two weeks later, Edgar and Walker connected on another 81-yard score, this one at Sheldon of Eugene.

Those two Edgar-to-Walker pass plays of 81 yards are the longest equidistant touchdown passes from one QB to one receiver in the same season over the past five years (accounts for stats reported for Class 6A and 5A teams only).

Two other duos are not far behind the distance of the Edgar-Walker connections. In 2018, Southridge’s Darik Salinas and Keyvaun Eady teamed for two 80-yard touchdowns, as did Scappoose’s Jakobi Kessi and Drake Kramer in 2019.
