The Oregon high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 31 — 75 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Oregon will give you one significant number per day.

75

In the past five seasons, Chace Pence of Churchill is the only Class 5A or 6A player reported to have thrown for two 75-yard touchdown plays in the same season.

In Week 1 of Pence’s senior season of 2021, he and Riley Van Camp connected on a 75-yard score in a 35-28 win for the Lancers over Eagle Point. Five weeks later, against Thurston of Springfield, Pence and Daniel Womack hooked up for a 75-yard score for the Lancers of Eugene.

Wilsonville’s Chase Hix has two 75-yard pass plays on file, but they were in different seasons (Week 1 of the spring 2021 season and Week 2 of the fall 2021 season) and one of the 75-yarders (to Kellen Hartford in the spring 2021 game) did not produce a touchdown.
