The Oregon high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 31 — 74 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Oregon will give you one significant number per day.

Class 5A and 6A schools combined for 74 shutouts in 2022, the most in one season since at least 2013.

Forty schools posted at least one shutout in 2022, led by Bend with seven — including three in a row in the regular season and two in the OSAA playoffs.

The closest to the 2022 shutout figure was 2021, when there were 58 shutouts among 40 schools, led by Thurston’s five.
