The Oregon high school football season is scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 31 — 71 days from today. As we count down the days until kickoff, SBLive Oregon will give you one significant number per day.

71

Career touchdown passes by Brock Thomas of Sheldon, the most any Class 5A or 6A player has thrown in the past five seasons. Thomas had eight touchdown passes in the spring 2021 season, 22 in fall 2021 and 41 in 2022 (the most in Oregon Class 6A or 5A).

The closest to Thomas during the past five seasons was Timothy Dennis Jr. of Aloha. Dennis Jr. had 70 in his upperclassman seasons of 2018 and 2019. There is no record on MaxPreps of Dennis Jr. throwing any touchdown passes in 2016 or 2017.

Central Catholic’s Cade Knighton passed for 64 touchdowns in 2018 and 2019, his final two high school seasons. MaxPreps shows him with one in his freshman season of 2016 and 18 the next season. Incorporating all of those, he would have a total of 83 touchdown passes in his high school career.
