The high school sports season has wrapped up in Oregon, so SBLive Oregon is looking back at some of the best high school athletes of 2022-23.

Over the next week, we'll be highlighting some of the top players in all classifications in volleyball, soccer, football, basketball, softball and baseball.

Here is the SBLive Oregon all-state softball team.

First team

Pitchers

Payton Burnham, Sheldon, Jr.

The Irish ace and Oregon State commit pitched her team to an OSAA 6A state championship and was named 6A pitcher of the year after allowing just 46 hits and striking out 375 in 186 innings, finishing 30-1 with an 0.19 ERA. She posted shutouts in all five playoff games and batted .404 with five home runs and 35 RBIs.

Addisen Fisher, Bend, Jr.

One of the top pitching prospects on the West Coast, the UCLA commit had another strong season for the Lava Bears, going 17-2 with 13 shutouts and an 0.32 ERA, striking out 214 while allowing 37 hits and 16 walks in 110 innings. She batted .602 with a 1.773 OPS, seven home runs and 44 RBIs.

Kadence Morrison, Dallas, Jr.

The 5A pitcher of the year guided the Dragons to their first state championship, going 21-3 with a 1.24 ERA while striking out 226 in 152⅓ innings. She batted .329 with three home runs and 13 RBIs.

Lily Riley, Oregon City, Jr.

The first-team 6A all-state selection and Utah Valley State commit led the Pioneers to a second consecutive appearance in the OSAA championship game, tossing a no-hitter in a tough-luck 1-0 defeat to Sheldon in the final. For the season, she posted an 0.93 ERA, striking out 220 while giving up 67 hits and 30 walks in 135⅓ innings.

Catcher

Abby Carsley, McMinnville, Sr.

The 6A player of the year and University of Kansas signee set 6A state records this spring with 20 home runs and 65 RBIs while hitting .560 (.628 on-base percentage, 1.266 OPS) and scoring 62 runs. She finished her career with 40 home runs, also a 6A record and tied for third all-time for all classifications.

First baseman

Allison Parker, Bend, Sr.

The first-team 5A all-state selection and Oregon Tech signee helped lead the Lava Bears to the state semifinals, batting .419 (1.069 OPS) with three home runs, 31 RBIs and 26 runs.

Infielders

Zoe LeBreton, The Dalles, Jr.

The Tri-Valley Conference player of the year was the catalyst of the Riverhawks’ dynamic offense that powered them to the OSAA state championship — the program’s first since 1994. She batted .448 with 11 home runs and 48 RBIs.

Ali Martinez, McNary, Jr.

The Central Valley Conference player of the year and first-team 6A all-state selection hit .526 in conference play, blasting five home runs with 22 RBIs and 20 runs.

Allyson Nordling, Oregon City, Sr.

The first-team 6A all-state selection and Fairmont State signee helped power the Pioneers lineup, batting .393 (1.214 OPS) with eight home runs, 15 doubles, 43 RBIs and 18 runs. She also was solid in the field (.972 fielding percentage).

Brooke Peterson, Sheldon, Jr.

It was Peterson’s heads-up play in the bottom of the seventh inning that scored the Irish’s lone run in their 1-0 victory over Oregon City in the OSAA 6A state final, capping a season in which the first-team all-state selection batted .474 (1.332 OPS) with three home runs, 18 RBIs, 48 runs and 25 stolen bases.

Outfielders

Paige Doerr, Marist Catholic, Sr.

The Sky Em player of the year and Oregon State signee was a veteran leader on a Spartans team that went through a transition season after reaching the OSAA 4A final a year ago. She batted .590 with eight home runs, 41 RBIs and 55 runs this spring.

Samara Miles, North Medford, Sr.

The first-team 6A all-state selection and Oregon Tech signee had a solid senior campaign for the Black Tornado, hitting .561 while scoring 28 runs and driving in 19.

Madelynn Sagapoulatele, The Dalles, Fr.

The first-team all-Tri-Valley selection hardly looked like a ninth-grader for the OSAA 4A state champion Riverhawks, batting .451 with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs.

Utility

Gracie Goewey, Bend, Sr.

The Siena University signee was a first-team 5A all-state selection in the outfield, batting .495 (1.591 OPS) with 12 home runs, 49 RBIs, 47 runs and five stolen bases. She also spelled all-state pitcher Addisen Fisher in the circle, going 3-0 with a 1.91 ERA and a save in five appearances.

Player of the year

Abby Carsley, McMinnville, Sr.

Pitcher of the year

Payton Burnham, Sheldon, Jr.

Coach of the year

Mike Faulconer, Sheldon

Faulconer took over the Irish program at its lowest point — the team having won just four games in 2014 and without a playoff win since 2008’s run to the OSAA 6A semifinals. In 2019, he led Sheldon to its first state championship, and four years later, with a new crew in tow, he added a second title with a team that dominated 6A, going 30-1 and outscoring opponents 260-18.
