Here are the candidates for SBLive’s Oregon High School Team of the Week for Nov. 6-12 as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Barlow boys water polo

The Bruins bested Lake Oswego 11-10 in a triple-overtime thriller in the championship game of the Class 6A state tournament, held at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis. Barlow goalie Cole Christiansen was named the tournament MVP. He was joined on the all-tourney first team by Bruin teammates Hayden Markell and Levi Riegelmann.

Catlin Gabel girls soccer

The Eagles soared to the Class 3A/2A/1A state championship, edging Valley Catholic 2-1 (5-4 in penalty kicks) in the title match, played at Liberty High School. Senior Campbell Swain scored Catlin Gabel’s goal in regulation play, and she also had one of the team’s successful PKs. The Eagles finished their season at 16-1-2.

Central Catholic football

The Rams improved to 11-0 the season by running to a 42-6 win over Lakeridge in a Class 6A state playoff quarterfinal contest played at Hillsboro Stadium. Central Catholic senior quarterback Cru Newman threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores in the victory.

Cleveland girls soccer

The Warriors reached the Class 6A state championship match for the first time ever, falling 3-2 in overtime to Grant in an all-Portland Interscholastic League final. Senior Jaidyn Richter and freshman Eleanor Cohen each scored a goal in the title contest for Cleveland, which finished it season at 15-2-3.

Echo football

The Cougars won 46-18 at Powers in a Class 1A 6-man state playoff quarterfinal game to earn their first state semifinal berth since 1987. Senior Dom Curiel scored three touchdowns and threw for two more in helping lead Echo to the victory.

Elkton football

The Elks picked up their first postseason victory since 1981 by getting a 58-34 home victory over South Wasco County in a Class 1A 6-man state playoff quarterfinal contest. Senior quarterback Anthony Alimenti passed for 217 yards and three touchdowns for Elkton in the win, while junior running back Jordyn Nederhood had 113 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Grant girls soccer

The Generals won their second Class 6A state championship in the past three years, edging Cleveland 3-2 in overtime in the 2023 title contest, played at Sherwood High School. Junior Kate Ratanaproeksa scored a pair of goals for Grant, including the game-winner in overtime. The Generals finished their season at 17-2-1.

Henley football

The Hornets scored a 35-14 win over Junction City in a Class 4A state playoff quarterfinal game played at Mazama High School, giving Henley its first state semifinal berth since 1990. Senior running back Logan Whitlock ran for three touchdowns for the Hornets in the victory.

Hood River Valley girls water polo

The Eagles captured the Class 5A/4A state championship, topping West Albany 13-10 in the tournament title game played at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis. Hood River Valley’s Sophie Cross was named the tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tournament first team by teammates Tess Marsden and goalie Esme Price.

Lakeridge boys soccer

The Pacers won the Class 6A state championship, rallying to get a 3-2 overtime victory over Jesuit in the title match, played at Sherwood High School. Senior Rafa Loyo had two goals in the championship match, while senior Karson Kosik added a goal for Lakeridge, which finished the season at 18-1.

The Pacers claimed the Class 6A state championship, beating South Eugene 11-7 in the state tourney title contest, held at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis. Lakeridge's Sydney Brandvold was tabbed the tournament MVP and was joined on the all-tourney first team by Pacer teammates Ella Ferguson and Munroe Blem.

McLoughlin boys soccer

The Pioneers capped off their season by winning the Class 3A/2A/1A state championship, besting Westside Christian 3-1 in the title match, played at Liberty High School. Senior midfielder/forward Almikar Garcia scored two goals in the win for McLoughlin, which finished its season at 18-0-1.

Newport boys soccer

The Cubs captured the Class 4A state championship, tipping Cottage Grove 2-1 in overtime in the title contest played at Liberty High School. Senior midfielder Ivan Hernandez scored the winning goal in overtime for Newport, which finished its season at 15-1-2.

North Marion girls soccer

The Huskies won the Class 4A state crown, tipping Marist Catholic 2-1 (5-4 in penalty kicks) in the title match, played at Liberty High School. Sophomore Paige Comerford scored North Marion’s goal in regulation play, and she also had one of the team’s successful PKs. The Huskies finished their season at 15-3.

Prairie City/Burnt River football

The Panthers topped North Lake 47-0 at home in a Class 1A 6-man state playoff quarterfinal game to claim their first state semifinal berth since 1990. Sophomore Maison Teel had 195 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in addition to catching a 44-yard TD pass in the victory.

Scappoose football

The Indians rallied from a 19-3 deficit to get a 24-19 win over Cascade in a Class 4A state playoff quarterfinal game played at Scappoose High School. Junior quarterback Max Nowlin passed for 248 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 1-yard run for Scappoose.

Sherwood football

The Bowmen recorded their eighth shutout victory of the season, topping Tigard 43-0 in a Class 6A state playoff quarterfinal contest played at Sherwood High School. Junior Treyson Eddleman ran for 185 yards and four touchdowns for Sherwood in the victory.

South Umpqua football

The No. 13-seeded Lancers earned a spot in the Class 3A state playoff semifinals by posting a 20-0 win over fifth-seeded Lakeview in a quarterfinal contest played at Lakeview. Junior linebacker David Logan helped South Umpqua record the shutout, having four tackles, a forced fumble, an interception and a blocked punt in the victory.

Summit boys soccer

The Storm edged Hood River Valley 1-0 in the Class 5A state championship contest, played at Sherwood High School. Senior Luca Gatto scored the only goal of the match for Summit, which finished the season at 15-1-3.

West Albany boys water polo

The Bulldogs won the Class 5A/4A state championship, beating Hood River 11-8 in the tournament final, played at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis. Conner Dickson topped West Albany with four goals in the title contest, and was named the tournament MVP. West Albany’s Jace Huskey and Tyson Ames were also first team all-tourney selections.

Westside Christian boys soccer

The Eagles reached the Class 3A/2A/1A state championship match for the first time in school history. Westside Christian fell 3-1 to McLoughlin in the title tilt, giving the Eagles a final record of 16-2. Senior Will Ficker scored Westside Christian’s goal in the finals.

Wilsonville girls soccer

The Wildcats capped off their 16-2 season by scoring a 2-0 win over North Eugene in the Class 5A state championship match, held at Sherwood High School. Senior Kenley Whittaker and sophomore Camryn Schaan each had a goal and an assist for Wilsonville in the victory.
