Here are the candidates for the WaFd Bank Oregon Softball Athlete of the Week as nominated by coaches, fans and readers.

Payton Burnham, Sheldon

The senior blasted three solo home runs and picked up a complete-game pitching victory, allowing one unearned run on three hits, striking out 10 and walking none, in leading the Irish to a 13-1 five-inning victory at McNary in a nonleague contest.

Tatum Cole, Lebanon 

The sophomore had a huge day for the Warriors in their 12-0 five-inning win over Philomath in a nonleague game at Lebanon High School. She threw a one-hit shutout, striking out 12 and walking none. At the plate, she smacked two home runs and drove in four.

Ashlyn Cooper, Cascade Christian

The sophomore threw a three-hit shutout, striking out 11, in leading the Challengers to a 14-0 road win over Ashland in a nonleague contest.

Myleigh Cooper, Scio

The junior had a big opening week for the Loggers, going 4 for 6 with two home runs, a double and two stolen bases in victories over Santiam and Clatskanie. She was the winning pitcher in both games, giving up no runs and striking out 21 in nine innings.

Destiny Cornwell, Sherwood

The junior threw a one-hit shutout, striking out nine and walking none, in leading the Bowmen to a 6-0 win over Mountainside in a nonleague game at Mountainside High School.

Brooklyn Cyr, North Douglas 

The junior threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout, striking out 10 and walking four in the Warriors’ 10-0 home win over Illinois Valley in a nonleague game.

Kassidy Elkins, Estacada

The senior threw six shutout innings, allowing two hits, striking out nine and walking four, in addition to going 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs in the Rangers’ 10-0 win over Reynolds in a nonleague game at Estacada High School.

Nellie Foust, Aloha

The freshman catcher/DP has got her high school career off to a flying start. In two games for the Warriors, both wins, she had two triples, a double and six RBIs in seven plate appearances. She’s played error-free defense with 16 putouts and one assist in 17 total chances.

Amanda Hammer, Crater

The sophomore catcher went 3 for 6 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs and played solid defense for the Comets in a season-opening doubleheader sweep at Mountain View. 

Kadie Henrichs, Heppner

The junior went 4 for 4 with a double and six RBIs for the Mustangs in their 18-0 win at Umatilla in a nonleague contest.

Gracie Huston, Central Catholic

The senior stood out during the Rams’ Arizona road trip, recording 51 strikeouts and walking just two in 24 innings. She added three doubles and two RBIs at the plate.

Cadence Kennedy, Mountain View 

The freshman shortstop stepped up for the Cougars in a season-opening 18-5 nonleague victory against Churchill. At the plate, she tripled, singled, drew a walk and drove in two. On defense, she made a diving catch for an out. 

Marin LaFrance, Lakeridge

The junior first baseman went 2 for 3 and had a strong defensive performance with a number of reaching catches in the Pacers’ season-opening 6-1 nonleague win at Wilsonville.

Sierra Llamas, Southridge

The junior catcher shined for the Skyhawks behind the plate and at the plate in the opening week. On defense, she recovered a missed bunt and outran an opposing baserunner trying to take two bases on the play for an out at third. With the bat, she hit a tying two-run homer against Glencoe.

Da’Liese Lomax, Central Catholic

The junior catcher/utility player went 8 for 18 for the Rams with two home runs, two doubles, a stolen base and 11 RBIs.

Dakota Mitsche, McMinnville

The sophomore went 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs for the Grizzlies in their 14-5 win over Sprague in a nonleague game at McMinnville High School.

Jasmine Morales, Roseburg

The sophomore had a big performance in a doubleheader split with Gresham in nonleague games in Roseburg. In the first game, a 9-6 loss, she went 2 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. In the second game, an 11-0 five-inning win, she pitched a complete game, giving up two hits, striking out eight and walking two.

Kadence Morrison, Dallas

The senior left-hander threw a no-hitter for the Dragons, striking out nine, in a 6-0 nonleague victory at West Salem. She picked up the pitching victory, striking out eight, and went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs in a 5-2 win over Canby.

Kinley Pappas, Sheldon

The senior catcher went 6 for 6 with a double, a triple, a home run, six runs and seven RBIs for the Irish in season-opening wins over Thurston and McNary.

Kali Parks, West Salem

In three games, the sophomore outfielder went 5 for 8 with a double, two triples, three RBIs, two stolen bases and one sacrifice. She had a 1.250 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.875.

McKenna Parmelee, Sherwood

The junior catcher went 3 for 3 with a double, a home run and five RBIs in powering the Bowmen to a 15-0 win over Roosevelt in a nonleague game at Sherwood High School.

Cecelia Petraitis, Yamhill-Carlton

The junior third baseman smacked a three-run homer on her birthday, leading the Tigers to an 8-1 season-opening nonleague win at Astoria.

Madison Price, Hillsboro

The junior shortstop went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs and three RBIs for the Spartans in an 8-5 season-opening nonleague win over Wells in a nonleague game at Hillsboro Stadium.

Portland Razo, Central Catholic

The freshman outfielder went 10 for 19 with three doubles, two stolen bases and five RBIs for the Rams.

Lily Riley, Oregon City

The senior threw a complete-game no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking one, in addition to going 2 for 3 with a double and a run in the Pioneers’ season-opening 4-0 win at Glencoe in a nonleague contest.

Maddy Sagapolutele, Gresham

The senior outfielder smacked three home runs and drove in seven for the Gophers in a 9-6 nonleague victory at Roseburg.

Olivia Smythe-Marcel, Hillsboro

The freshman pitched four and two-thirds shutout innings, striking out eight and allowing four hits in a 10-0 six-inning nonleague home win against Woodburn.

Gabbi Urban, North Medford

The senior spun a complete-game one-hitter, striking out 14 and walking one, in leading the Black Tornado to a 4-1 win over Tigard in a nonleague game at Tigard High School.

Maddy Vaughn, North Douglas

The senior went 2 for 3 with a three-run homer, a triple and a walk for the Warriors in their 10-0 home win against Illinois Valley in a nonleague contest.
