Top stars, best performances in Pennsylvania high school baseball and softball games played June 12-18
There were several big-time high school baseball and softball performances across the state of Pennsylvania as the PIAA playoffs continued this past week. Here are some of those performances.

Sierra Albright, Bald Eagle Area softball
Tossed a three-hitter with one walk and 16 strikeouts as the Eagles defeated Chambersburg 4-0 in the Class 2A semifinals.
Dominic Capparella, Bellfonte baseball
In the Class 4A state championship game against Dallas, he tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five as the Red Raiders won the state title with a 7-1 win.
Cameron Donaldson, Mount Union baseball
The senior had a double, a homer and a pair of RBIs in the Class 2A semifinals as the Mountaineers defeated Kutztown 5-2. In the state championship game, he had one of the only two hits for the Trojans.
Marla Freiwald, Blue Mountain softball
In a 7-0 win over Northwestern Lehigh in the Class 4A semifinals, she twirled a two-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts. She also drove in two runs for the Eagles. In the state championship game against Montour, she gave up six hits and one walk while striking out 10 and retired eight of the final nine hitters in a 3-2 win.
Elizabeth Gaisor, Juniata softball
Dominated in the circle in a 6-o win over Jamestown in the Class 3A semifinals, giving up just one hit and one walk while striking out 20. She also had a pair of hits at the plate, including a double, and two RBIs. In the state championship game, she allowed just two hits and one walk with 10 strikouts in a 1-0 loss. The only run was unearned.
Hunter Garvin, Riverside baseball
In the Class 3A state championship game, he went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and a run scored as Riverside defeated Camp Hill 4-0.
Connor Hamrick, Shaler Area baseball
In the class 5A state championship game, he went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, including a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the game 9-8 over Strath Haven.
Grace Header, Tri-Valley softball
Drove in what turned out to be the game-winning run in the Class 1A state championship game against Union Area with an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Bulldogs won 6-3. In the state semifinals, she also had a pair of RBIs in a win over Glendale.
Triston Heckman, Bellfonte baseball
In the Class 4A semifinals against Hopewell, he drove in two runs as the Raiders came from behind to win the game 6-5. And then in the state championship game win over Dallas, he had an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.
Brooks Henderson, Father Judge baseball
In a 4-1 win over North Penn in the Class 6A semifinals, he went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI and two runs scored. And then in the state championship game, he went 3-for-4 and scored twice in a 4-1 win over Mt.. Lebanon.
Olivia Hillegas, Everett softball
In the Class 2A state championship game, she went the distance in the circle and allowed just three hits and one run while striking out nine. At the plate, she was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a pair of runs scored as the Warriors beat Bald Eagle Area 12-1.
Christian Lucarelli, Riverside baseball
In the Class 3A state championship game, The Duke University commit went 6.2 innings and allowed just two hits and five walks while striking out nine in a 4-0 win over Camp Hill.
Samantha Magee, Northern York softball
In the Class 5A state championship game, she threw nine innings of four-hit softball in a complete game 3-2 win over Shaler Area. She walked three and struck out seven. She also scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
Emma Maurer, Tri-Valley softball
Threw a two-hitter with four walks and 12 strikeouts as the Bulldogs defeated Glendale 4-1 in the Class 1A semifinals. In the state championship game, she allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out 11 as the Bulldogs beat Union Area 6-3.
Kaitlyn Molitoris, Montour softball
Tossed a three-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts as the Spartans defeated Elizabeth Forward 4-1 in the Class 4A semifinals. In the state championship game, she had an RBI double. She also pitched a complete game and gave up just three runs on four hits in the loss.
Ella Nash, Shaler Area softball
Drove in four runs, including a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, as the Titans defeated Armstrong 8-5 in eight innings in the Class 5A semifinals.
Alex Pak, Strath Haven baseball
Tossed a complete game three-hitter with no walks and 10 strikeouts as the Panthers beat Greencastle-Antrim 2-0 in the Class 5A semifinals. In the state championship game loss to Shaler Area, he went 4-for-5 with a pair of triples and four RBIs.
Sabrina Paulin, Northern York softball
The freshman delivered the biggest hit of the season when she singled in the bottom of the ninth inning to drive in the winning run in walk-off fashion as the Polar Bears won the Class 5A state championship game 3-2.
Cloe Price, Everett softball
Delivered a three-run triple in the bottom of the fifth inning of the Class 2A semifinals against Neshannock to break a 5-5 tie and give the Warriors and eventual 9-6 win. The victory snapped a 48-game winning streak for the defending state champions. In the state championship game against Bald Eagle Area, she was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Levi Purnell, Bellfonte baseball
Went 2-for-2 with three RBIs, which included a three-run triple to break the game open as the Red Raiders beat Dallas 7-1 in the Class 4A state championship game.
Brittany Rice, Tri-Valley softball
In the Class 1A state championship game against Union Area, the senior catcher hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth as the Bulldogs won 6-3. She finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBIs. In the state semifinal win over Glendale, she had a double and an RBI.
Makenna Richards, Everett softball
In the Class 2A state championship game against Bald Eagle Area, the senior was 4-for-4 with a three-run homer and four RBIs.
David Rodriguez, Father Judge baseball
In the Class 6A state championship game, he threw a complete game and gave up seven hits and no walks while striking out eight in a 4-1 win over Mt. Lebanon.
Maranda Runco, Mid Valley softball
In an 8-1 win over Palisades in the Class 3A semifinals, she threw a complete game, giving up one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 12. She backed that up in the state championship game with a four-hitter and three walks while striking out nine as Mid Valley won 1-0 over Juniata.
Tyler Serb, Bald Eagle Area baseball
Hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Cameron Watkins as the Bald Eagles beat Sharpsville 1-0 in the Class 2A semifinals. He was also the reason the game was scoreless, as he tossed eight innings of three-hit baseball with one walk and 14 strikeouts. In the state championship game, he went all five innings and gave up just two hits and one walk while striking out five in an 11-0 win over Mount Union. He also went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Julia Shearer, North Penn softball
In the Class 6A semifinals, she went the distance and allowed just two hits and struck out 15 as the Knights won 1-0 in eight innings. She followed that up in the Class 6A state championship game with a four-hitter and nine strikeouts as the Knights beat Hempfield Area 1-0.
Dawson Smail, Clarion Area baseball
Drove in two of the Bobcats’ three runs in a 3-0 win over Southern Fulton in the Class 1A semifinals. In the state championship game against DuBois Central Catholic, he was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 4-1 win.
Aiden Snowberger, Dubois Central Catholic baseball
Tossed a complete game and allowed just two runs on seven hits with four strikeouts in a 4-2 win over Dock Mennonite in the Class 1A semifinals.
Dom Tozzi, Camp Hill baseball
Drove in the game-winning run with a walk-off RBI single as Camp Hill defeated Saucon Valley 5-4 in the Class 3A semifinals. He also had a two-out double to start a three-run rally in the sixth inning.
Tayton Yoder, Bald Eagle Area baseball
Delivered the final blow with a three-run triple as the Eagles defeated Mount Union 11-0 in five innings in the Class 4A state championship game.
