Mark Fletcher, nation's No. 7 running back, down to 4, announcing decision Tuesday

American Heritage (Florida) running back Mark Fletcher is down to a final four of Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State

A major prospect in the state of Florida is about to come off the board.

Over the weekend, 247Sports four-star running back Mark Fletcher announced a top four of Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State, and will announce his commitment at 6:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports HQ.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound ball-carrier, out of American Heritage High School (Plantation, Florida), took a visit to Ohio State in the first weekend in April, and the Buckeyes have emerged as a heavy favorite.

"That was the last place I visited," he told 247Sports. "Coach (Tony) Alford, I love the way he approached me and the conversation that we had. I could tell that he's different from a lot of coaches and everybody that has met him has had nothing but great words to say about him. He can develop me and get me to the next level."

During his sophomore and junior campaigns, Fletcher ran for 2,190 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Despite those stellar numbers, the American Heritage star is rated the No. 5 running back in the state in the class of 2023.

Why?

Florida is loaded at the position, boasting five of the nation's top seven ball-carriers - Edgewater's Cedrick Baxter Jr. (No. 2 overall), Lehigh's Richard Young (No. 3), Flemington Island's Samuel Singleton (No. 5), Trinity Christian Academy's Treyaun Webb (No. 6) and Fletcher.

So far, however, none of the nation's top backs have come off the board.

Fletcher will be the first on Tuesday.
