Texas Longhorns land 2 in-state bluechip commitments in 6-minute span
The annual Texas Longhorns spring game proved to be an immediate hit with recruits Saturday, as Steve Sarkisian's program picked up two major in-state commitments.
And both came fewer than seven minutes apart.
First, Texas landed recent DeSoto High School transfer and four-star running back Tre Wisner, the nation's No. 12 running back.
The 5-foot-11, 180-pound ball-carrier's tweet was timestamped at 7:50 p.m. (PT):
Wisner chose the Longhorns over offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC and others.
Just six minutes later (7:56 p.m. PT), lighting-fast prospect Ryan Niblett, the nation's No. 7 wide receiver, shared his commitment on social media as well:
The 5-foot-10, 170-pound football/track and field star, out of Aldine Eisenhower High School (Houston, Texas), had offers from Alabama, LSU, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and others.
With Wisner and Niblett in the fold, the 2023 recruiting class consists of five pledges, as the duo joins Seguin High School (Texas) four-star safety Jamel Johnson, C.E. King High School four-star defensive end Dylan Spencer and North Crowley High School three-star linebacker S'Maje Burrell.
