Coming out of Laurel High School (Mississippi) as part of the 2019 recruiting cycle, offensive tackle Charles Cross was an All-American Bowl selection.

But only two of the major recruiting ranking services saw him as a sure-fire high NFL draft pick.

247Sports and Rivals were right.

Cross was selection No. 9 overall by the Seattle Seahawks and was the No. 3 offensive tackle off the board, behind Ikem Ekwonu and Evan Neal.

247Sports

Ranking: 5-star prospect; Nation's No. 8 overall prospect, No. 2 offensive tackle

Notable: Cross was the No. 2 offensive tackle, behind Wisconsin signee Logan Brown, but he was ahead of NFL draft notables Evan Neal (Alabama) and Kenyon Green (Texas A&M).

247Sports national writer Charles Power projected Cross as a future NFL first-round draft pick.

Rivals

Ranking: 5-star prospect, Nation's No. 17 overall prospect, No. 3 offensive tackle

Notable: Cross was the No. 3 offensive tackle, and Rivals was impressive in its tackle rankings for the year, as Evan Neal (No. 1), Cross (No. 3) and Kenyon Green (No. 4) were all in the top four.

ESPN

Ranking: 4-star prospect; Nation's No. 84 overall prospect, No. 11 offensive tackle

Notable: 247Sports and Rivals both saw Cross as an elite prospect and a potential (if not, likely) future NFL first-round draft pick.

ESPN was not on the same page, as Cross wasn't a top-80 national recruit and was listed as the No. 5 player in Mississippi.
