2022 NFL Draft recruiting rewind: Purdue's George Karlaftis to Kansas City Chiefs
When West Lafayette High School (Indiana) defensive end George Karlaftis chose Purdue over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Florida, USC and others, he became an instant fan favorite.
He remains the highest-rated signee for Purdue since 2005.
On draft night, Karlaftis slid to No. 30 overall where he was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Here's how the standout defensive lineman was rated as a prospect coming out of high school:
Ranking: 5-star prospect; Nation's No. 27 overall prospect, No. 3 defensive end
Notable: 247Sports listed Karlaftis as the highest-rated Purdue pledge since 2005.
The site also projected him as a future first-round NFL Draft pick.
Yet another solid projection by the recruiting service.

Notable:Rivals was more than 100 spots lower on Karlaftis than 247Sports, and didn't have him as the top player in the state of Indiana.
He sat behind fellow Purdue signee David Bell, a wide receiver who is expected to be drafted on Day 2.

Notable: ESPN was almost exactly smack-dab in the middle of 247Sports and Rivals in terms of its view of Karlaftis.
The All-American Bowl selection carried a future NFL projection, but not one as a first-round draft pick.
