The 2022 NFL Draft has delivered a first round full of former bluechip recruits.

That, however, is not the path of Otay Ranch High School (California) alum Devin Lloyd, who has one of the most unlikely stories of any Day 1 picks.

He was selected as the No. 27 overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars. 

Here's a look at how Lloyd was rated coming out of high school in the class of 2017:

Ranking: 2-star prospect; Nation's No. 173 safety, No. 192 prospect in California 

Notable: Devin Lloyd blossomed at Utah and became the Pac-12 Conference defensive player of the year.

In other words, he dramatically outperformed his initial two-star ranking.

Rivals

Ranking: 2-star prospect

Notable: Another two-star rating for Lloyd, who held offers from Boise State, Colorado State, San Jose State, Utah and others. 

ESPN

Ranking: 3-star prospect; Nation's No. 89 athlete, No. 106 prospect in California

Notable: ESPN was highest on Lloyd, giving him a third star.
