The Ohio State Buckeyes football program got its first commitment of the 2024 recruiting class.

And commitments don't come much bigger.

On Monday, consensus five-star quarterback Dylan Raiola, the nation's No. 1 overall prospect, announced his commitment to Ohio State over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC and many others:

As a sophomore in Texas, Raiola threw for 3,341 yards and 32 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He added nine touchdowns on the ground.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound signal-caller, who recently transferred to Chandler High School (Arizona), Is the fourth Ohio State pledge in history to be rated the nation's No. 1 recruit by at least one publication, joining J.T. Tuimoloau (2021), Quinn Ewers (2021; reclassified) and Terrelle Pryor (2008).

Here's what 0n3Sports had to say about Raiola as a prospect:

"Football is in Dylan Raiola’s blood. He’s the son of former Nebraska and Detroit Lions offensive lineman Dominic Raiola. His father had a legendary career for Nebraska from 1998-2000, finishing as a consensus All-American and winning the Rimington Trophy for best center in college football. He played 14 years in the NFL for the Detroit Lions and became the first player in franchise history to play in 200 games with the team. Before transferring to Chandler (Ariz.) High ahead of his junior season, Raiola threw for 3,341 yards and 32 touchdowns in 12 games as a sophomore at Burleson (Texas) High. Away from football, Raiola is strong with his faith in Jesus Christ. “Without God, I wouldn’t be able to do anything I do now,” he said. His mother, Yvonne Raiola, played water polo at the University of Hawaii, Manoa along with three other aunts and uncles who played collegiate athletics. His sister, Taylor Raiola, plays volleyball at TCU."
