The Booty name? Legendary.

The Booty genes? Impeccable.

Given his family's success in the world of college football, it seemed inevitable Tyler Junior College (Texas) quarterback General Booty would find a Power 5 Conference fit, but it took some time.

His father, Abram Booty, was a former wide receiver at LSU, while his uncles, Josh and John David, were quarterbacks at LSU and USC, respectively.

On Saturday, Booty announced his commitment to Oklahoma over scholarship offers from Austin Peay, Illinois State, Indiana State, McNeese State, New Mexico, Nicholls State and others:

Coming out of Allen High School (Texas), Booty committed to Tyler JC hoping to elevate his recruiting stock.

Last season, he did just that, throwing for 3,115 yards and 25 touchdowns, highlighted by a 528-yard, eight-touchdown performance in a 69-57 victory over Navarro College.

For Oklahoma, the late addition of Booty - a 6-foot-2, 195-pound signal-caller - makes sense, as the quarterback depth chart has been decimated this offseason.

The Sooners lost both Caleb Williams (USC) Spencer Rattler (South Carolina) via the transfer portal.

Booty may not be the answer as a starter, but he adds much-needed depth to the position.
