Riley Kugel, nation's No. 4 shooting guard, commits to Florida Gators

Dr. Phillips High School (Florida) star de-committed from Mississippi State in March, then chose Florida on Monday

When Dr. Phillips High School (Florida) star Riley Kugel de-committed from Mississippi State in March, it re-opened the recruitment of one of the nation's top playmakers.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound athlete, rated the nation's No. 4 shooting guard, finally ended his second recruitment Monday, choosing the Florida Gators over fellow finalists Georgia and LSU.

Kugel is rated the nation's No. 48 overall prospect and the No. 11 player in the state of Florida by 247Sports

As a senior, he averaged 16.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

Kugel is the second high school pledge in Florida's 2022 recruiting class, joining Dr. Phillips three-star teammate Denzel Aberdeen.

While the Gators only signed a pair of prep commits, they were very active in the transfer portal securing Will Richard (Belmont), Alex Fudge (LSU) Trey Bonham (VMI) star guard Kyle Lofton (St. Bonaventure), who was a three-time all-Atlantic 10 performer.
