Julian Sayin, 2024 Carlsbad 5-star quarterback, previews Texas, LSU, Alabama visits

It's early in the recruiting process for class of 2024 prospects, but that hasn't slowed the recruitment of Carlsbad High School (California) quarterback Julian Sayin.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound signal-caller is rated the nation's No. 11 overall prospect and No. 2 quarterback, racking up offers from many of the top programs in college football.

Hoping to lay the groundwork of his recruitment, Sayin has visited multiple schools this spring, and recently announced another three-stop tour of Texas (June 11), LSU (June 12) and Alabama (June 13).

This week, he gave his thoughts on the three programs with SBLive Sports Director of Recruiting Andrew Nemec.

Texas Longhorns: "I really like coach (Steve) Sark(isian). We have a good relationship - and just the whole staff, they are very warm to me. Texas was my favorite growing up and it will be good to get back out there." 

LSU Tigers: "I really like coach Brian Kelly... when I met him at Notre Dame. I really like him. He's got a great resume and he knows how to win. Coach (Joe) Sloan, too, I really like him. We've been talking on the phone for awhile now. We just keep communicating and really like those guys over at LSU. It's exciting." 

Alabama Crimson Tide: "Alabama is Alabama. I mean, you've got coach (Nick) Saban. I talked on the phone with him a couple of weeks ago, and coach (Bill) O'Brien was at my school so I talked to him. I really like the staff over there. Their production speaks for itself." 

One area of the recruiting process Sayin is watching closely is where top quarterback prospects in the class of 2023 are headed.

While he isn't afraid of competition, there is one gunslinger whose commitment could alter his plans.

"I probably only watch a couple of guys," Sayin said. "I'd say Arch Manning is one of the guys. If he ends up going to Texas it's probably a program I won't end up going to. But I'm a competitor and I love to compete."
