The Nebraska Cornhuskers have a top-25 nationally ranked 2023 recruiting class consisting of eight pledges.

On Monday morning, Scott Frost and his coaching staff added the group's headliner (so far) into the mix, as 247Sports four-star two-way lineman Riley Van Poppel announced his commitment to the Cornhuskers.

He is the son of ex-Major League Baseball pitcher Todd Van Poppel

The 6-foot-4, 270-pound two-way standout, out of Argyle High School (Texas), held offers from more than 20 programs, highlighted by Arkansas, Florida State, Michigan, Tennessee, Washington and others.

"I want to say how grateful I am to be blessed by God to be put in the position I am in. Without Him, none of those would be possible," Van Poppel posted to social media. "And I want to say thank you to my family for always being there for me and supporting me and my dreams ever since I can remember. I want to thank my coaches for the effort and love they have showed me throughout my high school career. And lastly to my teammates and friends, the endless support from y'all means more than you will ever know. With that being said, I want to announce that I am committed to the University of Nebraska."

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Van Poppel is rated as a four-star interior offensive line recruit.

However, he is projected on the defensive side of the ball with the Cornhuskers.
