Caleb Presley, Rainier Beach's All-American defensive back, trims list to 6, announcing commitment Tuesday

The state of Washington has been churning out All-American-caliber prospects over the past few years, and the class of 2023 is no exception.

One of those top players is Rainier Beach High School (Washington) cornerback and All-American Bowl selection Caleb Presley, who has generated offers from nearly 30 college programs.

Despite his intense recruitment, the 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back is ready to shut things down.

On Tuesday, Presley announced a final six of Alabama, Michigan State, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and Washington, as well as a July 5 commitment date.

He will be announcing his college decision at 5 p.m. on CBS Sports HQ:

Presley is a four-star prospect and is rated the nation's No. 78 overall prospect and No. 9 cornerback, making him one of the top defensive back prospects on the West Coast.

Analysis 

Presley's July 5 decision appears to be good news for Oregon.

Buzz had been growing for weeks that the Washington product is getting closer to a commitment to the Ducks, but until this week no timetable was actually set.

With a commitment date scheduled, it's sounding more and more like the rumblings are true.

Aiding Oregon's cause, the Ducks recently signed Rainier Beach five-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr., who has not hidden his desire to re-connect with his former teammate at the next level.

Presley is likely to choose Oregon next week.
