Prediction: Oregon Ducks to land All-American Bowl defensive back

Being outside the top 25 of the recruiting class rankings is unfamiliar territory for the Oregon Ducks football program in recent years.

Turns out, they won't have to get used to it.

This week, Rainier Beach High School (Washington) cornerback and All-American Bowl selection Caleb Presley announced a top six and set a July 5 commitment date at 5 p.m. PT on CBS Sports HQ.

That's good news for Dan Lanning's program.

Prediction: Caleb Presley to Oregon Ducks

Alabama, Michigan State, Texas A&M, UCLA and Washington all made the final six, but will come up short. 

I was already hearing substantial rumblings that Presley was nearing a commitment, and that it would be Oregon, even before he set his decision date.

Based on that information, it was becoming clear behind the scenes that a decision was imminent.

Given Presley's announcement Tuesday, it seems that a commitment to Oregon is only a matter of time. 

The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back is rated the nation's No. 78 overall prospect and No. 9 cornerback and holds more than 25 scholarship offers. 

Based on current composite rankings, Presley would eclipse Jurrion Dickey as Oregon's class headliner should he choose the Ducks.

However, Dickey is in line for a massive jump, one that could see him flirt with five-star status.

Regardless of who takes top billing, Presley would be a monster "get" for coach Demetrice Martin and the rest of the Oregon staff. 

A commitment would also re-connect Presley with former Rainier Beach teammate and five-star signee Josh Conerly Jr.
