The Oregon State Beavers football program has had its best month of the 2023 recruiting cycle in July.

Jonathan Smith's program snapped a 2,050-day streak without a 247Sports composite four-star prospect, landing Kelze Howard, but also added fast-rising Washington cornerback Andre Piper-Jordan, under-the-radar Florida wide receiver Tastean Reddicks and Texas safety Jalen O'Neal.

On Thursday, Oregon State went back to Texas for another commitment, as Carthage High School (Texas) three-star wide receiver Montrel Hatten Jr.chose the Beavers.

The 6-foot, 175-pound pass-catcher held 20 scholarship offers, highlighted by Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, TCU and Texas Tech.

As a junior, the dynamic playmaker hauled in 61 receptions for 1,054 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Hatten took an official visit to Oregon State in late June, which seemed to solidify his future plans.

"The coaching staff was great," he said. "I love everything about the offense."

He intends to graduate early and hopes to move to Corvallis in January to begin college classes.

Oregon State's 2023 recruiting class consists of 14 pledges and moves from No. 55 to No. 53 with the addition of Hatten, jumping Georgia Tech and Washington State.
