The Northwest could take center stage in the recruiting world shortly, as both the Washington Huskies and Oregon Ducks appear poised to add key commitments.

In Florida, a five-star running back trimmed his list to 12, while one of the most productive edge-rushers in the country is nearing a decision.

And then there's USC, which is still generating massive buzz from last weekend's big visitor weekend. 

Here's a look at the top recruiting stories of the past few days: 

- Washington Huskies appear poised to add 5-star basketball commitment

The nation's No. 2 shooting guard is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday, and Washington is believed to be the heavy favorite

- Prediction: Oregon Ducks to add Under Armour All-American selection

"Oregon is very special," he said. "It's a very special place. I already love the atmosphere, I love the fans and I love the way the community will literally go beyond the world for the football team."

"I didn't get to experience the Reggie Bush years," he said. "But since they got Lincoln Riley it's been good. I feel like they are back. I feel like all of the recruits were impressed. There was a lot of energy in the crowd and it was crazy. It was a really good experience."

On Tuesday, the IMG Academy star trimmed his list down to a top 12 - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M:

- West Linn 3-star athlete Mark Hamper visiting Portland State this weekend; Oregon State trip upcoming 

"I'm super excited for the weekend, but I'm not looking to commit until later - after the season," Hamper said.

- Rueben Bain, nation's No. 11 defensive lineman, loved Auburn from "beginning to end,' but Miami relationship is 'second to none' 

"The support system of Auburn," he said. "Everybody loved it from beginning to end, no matter the outcome. Everyone was passionate. It felt like what college ball is all about." 

- Nation's no. 2 athlete Malachi Coleman says Miami canceled his official visit set for this weekend

So far, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound wide receiver/edge-rusher has taken just one official visit - Nebraska on June 3 - but that was set to change this weekend.

Coleman was scheduled to take a visit to Miami, but the trip was canceled.

Rated the nation's No. 237 overall prospect and No. 24 offensive tackle, Paige accumulated more than 30 scholarship offers during the recruiting process.

"It was really special," he said. "It was just really special for me to be a part of that. It showed that USC has major interest in me and wants me to stay home. They invited me to a big event with a lot of their guys."
