Jaylen Heyward, nation's No. 3 safety, trims list to 6

Class of 2024 Rockledge High School (Florida) star Jaylen Heyward has racked up more than 30 scholarship offers early in his recruitment.

The 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back is ranked the nation's No. 38 overall prospect and No. 3 safety, putting him within striking distance of eventually earning his fifth star.

On Friday, Heyward announced he was down to a top six of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and Tennessee:

Heyward had previously announced a top 12, but has since eliminated Central Florida, LSU, Miami, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas A&M.

As a sophomore, the Rockledge star registered 35 tackles and three interceptions. 

There's still a long way to go in the coveted defensive back's recruitment.

But the battle is down to six.
