Early Tennessee Volunteers pledges celebrate making 'good choice' in recruitment

The Tennessee Volunteers football program is tied for No. 2 in the Associated Press poll and has the nation's No. 12 recruiting class. 

After going 7-6 last season with a 4-4 record in the SEC, few would've guessed they would be in this position.

But Tennessee did have early believers, including the two earliest commits in their current recruiting class, Colquitt County (Georgia) three-star safety Jack Luttrell and Collins Hill (Georgia) four-star pass-catcher Ethan Davis, the nation's No. 6 tight end.

Luttrell committed before the start of his junior year in the summer of 2021, while Davis announced his decision last December.

Based on how the program has improved since their commitments, both players publicly celebrated their early decisions on social media this weekend:

Tennessee has added several major pieces since Luttrell and Davis started things off, highlighted by consensus Warren (California) five-star quarterback Nico Iamaleava and elite Platte County (Missouri) edge-rusher  Chandavian Bradley.

But there's always something special about the first pledges in a recruiting class.

And, as it turns out, both Luttrell and Davis are thrilled with their status as future Vols. 

Of note, next up for No. 2 Tennessee is a road showdown against No. 1 Georgia on November 5 in what could be the biggest regular season game in the country this season.
