It was a big weekend for St. John Bosco five-star edge-rusher Matayo Uiagalelei.

The 6-foot-255-pound athlete proved to be a major difference maker on both sides of the ball in St. John Bosco's CIF Division I Southern Section championship victory over Mater Dei on Friday night. 

On Saturday evening, the nation's No. 10 overall prospect and No. 2 edge-rusher took an unofficial visit to USC for the Trojans' 38-27 victory over Notre Dame.

Immediately following the win, Uiagalelei met up with USC coach Lincoln Riley, who held up a St. John Bosco towel to honor the Braves' big win:

So far, Uiagalelei has kept his recruitment fairly close to the best with Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon and USC among his top suitors.

But with USC knocking on the door of a possible college football playoff appearance in Year 1 of the Riley era, it will be interesting to see if hometown ties emerge as a major factor.

Certainly, it would seem this weekend's trip to USC couldn't hurt the Trojans' chances.
