Like most class of 2025 high school football prospects, Buford (Georgia) sophomore linebacker Mantrez Walker doesn't yet carry a star rating on recruiting sites.

But that hasn't slowed his recruitment.

The 6-foot, 215-pound 'backer already holds double-digit offers and has taken unofficial visits.

In fact, Walker has put an end to the recruiting process just as it was truly beginning.

On Saturday, Walker announced his commitment, choosing Michigan over fellow finalists Florida, LSU and Penn State.

“I’ve always wanted to play for Michigan,” Walker told The Michigan Insider. “I feel as though I can create a legacy at Michigan. I feel that I can fit into Michigan's defense perfectly with coach (Jesse) Minter’s vision. I want to be a part of a family oriented culture with a rich winning tradition."

Walker first received his scholarship offer from Michigan in December and visited in mid-January, a trip that seemed to immediately catapult the Wolverines to the forefront of his recruitment.

Given Buford's loaded high school football program, it's possible Michigan is hoping to establish a pipeline to the loaded roster - with the talented linebacker being the first domino to fall.

The Georgia product is the second class of 2025 pledge for Michigan, joining Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Florida) star Chris Ewald, the nation's No. 38 overall prospect and No. 3 cornerback.
