Tru Washington, uncle of TyTy Washington, commits to New Mexico

AZ Compass Prep standout Tru Washington is officially off the board after announcing his commitment to New Mexico and Rick Pitino on Tuesday.

The four-star recruit is the uncle (yes, uncle) of former Kentucky guard and current Houston Rocket TyTy Washington. 

TyTy was a five-star recruit at AZ Compass Prep and graduated in the class of 2021. He was selected with the No. 29 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. 

Tru is a 6-foot-3 175-pound combo guard that is ranked as the nation's No. 115 overall prospect, No. 15 combo guard, and Arizona's No. 6 recruit according to On3's consensus rankings. 

Washington joins Faith Family Academy (Texas) three-star power forward Jadyn Toppin in New Mexico's 2023 recruiting class. The Lobo's currently hold the nation's No. 41 recruiting class in 2023.
