Bryce Underwood, nation's No. 1 quarterback in 2025, visiting LSU this weekend, receives Florida State offer

Belleville (Michigan) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood is visiting LSU this weekend

The LSU Tigers football program appears poised to hit the ground running on the recruiting trail following a nearly month-long dead period.

And the marquee name on this weekend's visitor list is a big one.

This week, Belleville (Michigan) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, the nation's No. 3 overall prospect and No. 1 signal-caller in the class of 2025, announced he will be in Baton Rogue for an unofficial visit:

On Thursday, the 6-foot-2, 200-pound signal-caller also announced a new scholarship offer from the Florida State Seminoles:

The visit to LSU comes less than a month after the Tigers extended an offer, a good sign of mutual interest.

And it should be quite a dogfight, as he boasts offers from more than 30 of the nation's top programs.

In two years at Belleville, Underwood has led his squad to back-to-back Michigan Division I state championships, including the school's first-ever undefeated - 14-0 - season.

As a sophomore, the Michigan product finished with 2,751 yards and 37 touchdowns passing with an additional 642 yards and eight scores rushing.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Underwood as a prospect:

"Ahead of his years physically and looks like he could be a senior or college player already. Has a strong arm with the ability to make throws to any part of the field. Throws a good deep ball and can use touch to give his receivers a chance to go make plays on the ball. Did an exceptional job of taking care of the ball as a freshman with 39 touchdowns to just four interceptions. Got rid of the ball quickly and was decisive with the ball for the most part. Very good athlete who honestly could be a high-level recruit on defense if he was not such a great quarterback. Uses those legs to escape the rush and extend plays. He looks to throw after escaping but can also take off and be dangerous as a runner. Won a state title as a freshman and had to come up with some clutch throws through the season and playoff run, showing he could come through in clutch situations. Currently shows no glaring weaknesses, just needs to continue to progress in terms of learning defenses and going through progressions, but shows high-end physical tools as well as intangibles. Is a high Power Five prospect who will be recruited very heavily at a national level."

In the class of 2024, LSU has a commitment from fast-rising Trinity Christian Academy (Florida) four-star quarterback Collin Hurley, while Florida State boasts the pledge of Benedictine Military School (Georgia) four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, the nation's No .5 signal-caller.

So far, the Tigers have two pledges in the class of 2025, while the Seminoles have one. Neither team has a quarterback commitment early in the cycle.
