One of the nation's most coveted linebackers is down to three.

On Tuesday, Good Counsel (Maryland) star linebacker Aaron Chiles, the nation's No. 57 overall prospect and No. 2 inside linebacker, announced a final three of Florida, Maryland and Michigan:

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defender delivered the unsurprising cut via social media.

Chiles has already set official visits to both Florida (June 16) and Michigan (June 23) and also included the in-state Terrapins in his top three.

Since early spring, Jim Harbaugh's Wolverines have emerged as the clear-cut team to beat and those rumors are only likely to grow louder with his latest update.

247Sports has four predictions in - all in favor of Michigan - while On3 gives the Wolverines a 93.6 percent chance of winning the battle.

According to On3, Chiles' relationship with Harbaugh is a significant factor in his interest in the program.

“It’s always a great experience with him,” Chiles said. “My family picked his brain and had great conversations with him. We talked about business and football. He’s very genuine and for the players. People outside of his office told me how great Coach Harbaugh is and how much he cares about the players. That’s another thing my family really liked.”

Still, the next wave of visits could prove to be crucial.

And teams are battling hard for his services.

As a junior, the Maryland product racked up 74 tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Here's what 247Sports had to say about Chiles, in part, as a prospect:

".... During several in-person evaluations burst, instincts and physical style of play stood out. Team leader with high football IQ. Productive, reliable player. Lines up in various spots, including blitzing off edge and as inside linebacker. Great body control and can contort to slip through gaps and dip to get around edge. Diagnosis plays quickly. Runs well and chases plays down from behind. Fills run gaps and is sure tackler. Athleticism is evident in person and on tape. Is strong against run. Willing to take on blocks and can stack and shed. Navigates traffic and locates ball carrier well, especially in box. Tackles through ball carrier and also delivers big hit. Understands not only his assignments but can direct defense. Is impressive with drop depths in coverage and does not bail on assignments. Closing speed flashes when playing down hill. Moves well laterally and shows ability to get to sideline..."
