Jeremiah Smith, nation's No. 1 wide receiver and Ohio State pledge, wears Florida Gators gear; DJ Lagway responds

Willis (Texas) five-star quarterback and Florida pledge DJ Lagway responds to Jeremiah Smith's fashion choice

Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Florida) five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is rated the No. 2 recruiting in the country.

So, it should come as no surprise that while the 6-foot-3, 198-pound pass-catcher is committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes many schools are working hard to flip him.

And Smith appears to be listening.

So far, the dynamic pass-catcher has set up three official visits - Georgia (May 19), Florida (June 2) and Ohio State (June 9).

While all three programs are among the best in the country, they share another trait: an elite quarterback commitment in the class of 2024.

Georgia landed Dylan Raiola on Monday, while Florida has Willis (Texas) five-star signal-caller DJ Lagway and Ohio State has locked in Langston Hughes (Georgia) four-star passer Air Noland.

All three quarterbacks are working hard to add Smith into the fold, or keep him there in the case of Noland.

Based on Smith's outfit in preparations for the state track and field meet, Lagway seems to be making some headway:

For his part, Lagway said he saw the outfit and believes Smith would provide a massive boost if he were to flip to the Gators.

"We’re recruiting him hard, and he will definitely be a huge asset right away," he said.

Georgia has similar thoughts, and given its recent addition of Raiola, a former Ohio State pledge himself, the Bulldogs are a serious threat.

Still, there's a long way to go before Signing Day.

The official visits will be crucial, and Florida is about to get its shot to make Smith's warm-up colors much more permanent.
