Prospect commits to Colorado football in Deion Sanders' Instagram live comment section

Four-star athlete Aaron Butler chooses Buffs over Georgia, Oregon, others

Calabasas (California) four-star class of 2024 athlete Aaron Butler's commitment to Colorado on Tuesday came via the Instagram live comment section of his soon-to-be college coach.

Butler, who is just over 6-foot and the No. 5 athlete in the nation, jumped into the comment section of Colorado football coach Deion Sanders' live video on Instagram and wrote:

“Well, I think that describes me to a tee Coach, no cap. With that being said, I want to officially announce my commitment to the University of Colorado to the world. #WECOMING.”

Butler, who decommitted from USC in January, is the highest rated of the five 2024 commits to Colorado and will reportedly graduate high school early and join the school in December.

He also considered Georgia, Alabama, Miami and Oregon, among others, but attended the Colorado spring game along with 47,277 other fans and ultimately the Buffaloes won him over, though he also visited Georgia.

He gave a detailed list of reasons — printed in full by recruiting site On3 — for choosing the Boulder school, notably competing against blue chip corners Travis Hunter and Cormani McClain, the nation's No. 1 2023 corner, and the ability to play for Sanders, whose hire and first few months of his Colorado tenure has been a dominant national storyline in the college football offseason.

As a junior at Calabasas, Butler caught for 830 receiving yards on 38 catches (21.9 yards per game) and 16 touchdowns in nine games.

In February, Butler told SBLive he'd be committing on July 22, his 18th birthday.
