Jerrick Gibson, nation's No. 1 running back, announces top 5, sets official visits

IMG Academy (Florida) five-star running back Jerrick Gibson is down to a final five

IMG Academy (Florida) five-star prospect Jerrick Gibson is one of the most coveted players in the country.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound ball-carrier is rated the nation's No. 1.running back and holds offers from nearly every major program in America.

On Tuesday, however, Gibson took a massive step forward in his recruitment, trimming his list to a final five of Florida, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee and Texas:

In truth, none of those schools was a surprise.

Gibson has scheduled official visits to four of his finalists - Georgia (June 2), Miami (June 9), Tennessee (June 16) and Texas (June 24) - and was a prior Florida pledge who has visited multiple times.

According to both 247Sports and On3, the Longhorns have emerged as the clear-cut leader.

During his prep career, Gibson has bounced around a fair bit - from Gainesville High School as a freshman to Mundy's Mill (Georgia) as a sophomore, then to IMG Academy (Florida) last season, where he rushed for 608 yards and eight touchdowns.

This season, however, Gibson is expected to become the lead back and is likely to break out as one of the most productive playmakers in the state of Florida.

He also has a college decision to make.

It's a choice that is growing closer with every cut, and he's now down to five.
