It was a banner day for the Oregon Ducks on the recruiting trail.

It began with the addition of Under Armour All-American quarterback Michael Van Buren, nation's No. 11 quarterback and No. 2 uncommitted player at his position.

Shortly thereafter, Durant (Oklahoma) four-star defensive lineman Xadavien Sims joined the flock, choosing the Ducks over fellow finalists Michigan State, Oklahoma, TCU and Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound defender is rated the nation's No. 121 overall prospect, No. 16 defensive lineman and No. 1 player in Oklahoma.

While Sims appeared to be favoring Michigan State for much of the spring, he took visits to Oregon on consecutive weekends in late April and it seemed to immediately alter his feelings.

Oregon's class moves up one spot - from No. 7 to No. 6 with the Saturday additions.

For Sims, a verbal commitment to the Ducks doesn't appear to be an end to the recruiting process, as he has scheduled official visits to Michigan State (June 2), TCU (June 16) and Vanderbilt (June 23).

Here's what 247Sports had to say, in part, about Sims as a prospect:

"True hand-on-the-ground D-lineman with a stout build. Adequate height verified in the 6-3 range, similarly adequate frame length with space to add more mass. Very young for his grade. Likely a scheme-versatile prospect given physical traits. ...Flashes punch power at the point of attack. Capable of disengaging to make plays on the ball. Has some pursuit juice when closing on a bead. ...Play strength is obvious. Bull rusher who can collapse the pocket from the interior, but also plays edge snaps and shows similar brute force on the outside. ...Needs more technical nuance. That includes hand violence, extension, and disengaging consistency, as well as expanding his move set as a pass rusher."
