Could Ron Holland be heading to the NBA G League Ignite?

The five-star power forward was finally released from his National Letter of Intent with Texas

Ron Holland, the No. 1 ranked high school boys basketball player in the class of 2023, is finally free.

The former Duncanville High School (Texas) star and Texas Longhorns signee was granted release from his National Letter of Intent earlier this week. Holland visited the NBA G League Ignite on Tuesday, according to CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein

The NBA G League Ignite is an alternative to college basketball, and the NCAA altogether, which allows top high school basketball recruits to become professional basketball players and play in the NBA's development league before entering the draft.

Located in Las Vegas, Nevada, the G League Ignite can offer competitive salaries to their players. Scoot Henderson, the projected No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, signed a two-year $1 million contract in 2021.

In the professional league's first season in 2020-2021, future top NBA Draft picks Jalen Green (No. 2 in 2021) and Jonathan Kuminga (No. 7 in 2021) both reportedly signed for the same amount as Henderson.

Along with the NBA G League Ignite, there is another high-end suitor for Holland.

Arkansas and head coach Eric Musselman are still in the mix for the 6-foot-8, 195-pound power forward. The Razorbacks were included in Holland's final three schools and the program has a proven track record of producing one-and-done players.

Holland's Duncanville teammate, Anthony Black, had an extremely successful freshman season at Arkansas and is a projected lottery pick in this year's NBA Draft. The Razorbacks have a 50% chance of landing the highly-coveted recruit, according to a prediction made by Trey Biddey of HawgSports.com.
