Dakoda Fields, nation's No. 10 cornerback, previews USC official visit, discusses Oregon

Serra (California) four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields is set to visit USC this weekend

Serra (California) four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields has a busy month ahead.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound defensive back, rated the nation's No. 10 cornerback and No. 78 overall prospect, has set four official visits set in June - USC (June 2), Miami (June 16), Washington (June 21) and Oregon (June 23)

That first trip will take Fields to Los Angeles for a return visit to check out the Trojans this weekend.

"What stands out the most is obviously being in Los Angeles and having so many networking opportunities," he said. "The main thing I want to get out of college is developing as a human being and a football player, and I feel like 'SC can do both for me pretty well."

For Fields, continuing to build relationships within the program is essential to his recruitment.

"I’m looking forward to building relationships more with the coaches and bonding with some of the players - just having a good time overall while also getting the information I need being a student-athlete there," he said.

Although several schools still have a shot at the California product, Oregon is widely believed to be the team to beat.

Fields stopped short of making that assessment, but did indicate that the Ducks are heading in a positive direction.

"I’ve been building a really good relationship with the coaching staff and I feel like, right now, it’s a great place to be to get developed as a player," he said. "I see that they’re also building a pretty good (2024 recruiting) class and have a few players I may want to play with. I still need to figure out some of the opportunities as far as life after, and during, football. But overall, I feel pretty good about where they are as a school right now."

Expect Fields to have a much clearer picture of his recruitment by. the end of June - with USC getting the first opportunity to impress this weekend.
