Elijah Brown, nation's No. 3 quarterback, commits to Stanford Cardinal

Over the past several months, class of 2024 quarterbacks have been flying off the board.

By the end of April, the overwhelming majority of the nation's top 20 signal-callers had already announced their future homes.

For some time, Mater Dei (California) four-star quarterback Elijah Brown has represented the top uncommitted player in the country at his position.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete is rated the nation's No. 33 overall prospect, falling just shy of five-star status.

But Sunday, Brown finally put an end to his recruitment, choosing the Stanford Cardinal over accumulated offers from Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, USC and many others.

"I am so thankful for the opportunities football has given me and for this recruiting process," he wrote. "Thank you to all my family, friends, and coaches. I am excited to announce I have committed to Stanford University! Happy Father’s Day Dad." 

This fall, Brown is projected to be one of the leaders of a Mater Dei squad that will be the favorite to win a national championship in high school football. 

The Mater Dei star is the latest - and the headliner - in a series of big additions for Stanford over the past few weeks.

The Cardinal's recruiting class is rated No. 9 nationally and consists of 21 pledges.

Following Brown's decision, Stanford added to its future backfield, securing the commitment of Picayune Memorial (Mississippi) running back Chris Davis.
