The Texas Longhorns are on a recruiting hot streak, and it doesn't seem to be ending any time soon.

On Wednesday, Texas added yet another key piece to the puzzle, as Richland (Texas) interior offensive lineman Daniel Cruz, an elite center prospect, announced his commitment to the Longhorns.

The 6-foot-3 1/2, 295-pound mauler is rated a four-star prospect, as well as the nation's No. 150 overall prospect and No. 7 interior lineman.

He held nearly 30 scholarship offers, highlighted by Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC and others.

“I’m committing to Texas," Cruz said. "Really the only reason I’m committing there are the possibilities with Coach (Kyle) Flood. Me and him have talked a lot. He knows how to develop me and make me the best player I can be. I really want to get developed to the next level and become an NFL center."

It also doesn't hurt that Texas has recruited some excellent help around him, particularly at the running back position, highlighted by the recent addition of IMG Academy (Florida) star Jerrick Gibson, the nation's No. 2 running back.

Of course, he's also connected with some of his future offensive line teammates.

"They’ve got some great running backs coming in," Cruz said. "“I was to connect a lot with of the offensive line commits in this class during my official visit."

The talented in-state lineman has also heard the buzz about a few star-studded incoming pledges, and he can't wait for call them teammates.

“Honestly, it’s really exciting," Cruz said. "There are some big possibilities. Getting a chance to compete with them will be huge - iron sharpens iron."

Cruz is the fourth commitment for Texas in the past week, as he joins Gibson, Mountain Pointe (Arizona) four-star athlete/running back Christian Clark and Atascocita (Texas) four-star interior offensive lineman Nate Kibble.

Expect more help to be on the way shortly.
