Prediction: Oregon Ducks to land coveted California 4-star linebacker
Update: Dylan Williams committed to Oregon in a live announcement Friday afternoon. Read more here.
The Oregon Ducks experienced a big miss on the recruiting trail Thursday, as Salpointe Catholic (Arizona) five-star edge-rusher Elijah Rushing committed to the Arizona Wildcats.
For weeks, it seemed that Oregon was in good position for the nation's No. 8 overall prospect, but the Wildcats quietly loomed large throughout and came out on top.
While that's a noteworthy "miss," it doesn't seem as if the Ducks' momentum will stall for long.
Prediction: 4-star linebacker Dylan Williams to Oregon Ducks
On Thursday, Long Beach Poly (California) four-star linebacker Dylan Williams announced he was ready to make his college commitment Friday at 1:30 p.m. PT/4:30 p.m. ET (watch it here):
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound 'backer is a consensus four-star prospect, but his highest ranking comes courtesy of Rivals, where he is rated the nation's No. 37 overall prospect and No. 4 linebacker.
Williams took four official visits - UCLA (May 12), Michigan State (June 2), Oregon (June 9) and Washington (June 16) - but the battle has come down to two.
Michigan State and Oregon.
Despite rumblings of a big - shocking! - Spartans win on the recruiting trail, the Ducks appear to be the team to beat less than 24 hours to his decision.
What would Oregon be getting?
Williams is a versatile, athletic 'backer who registered 79 tackles, 25.5 tackles-for-loss, 4.5 sacks and an interception as a junior.
He would join an Oregon 2024 recruiting class that is ranked in the top-10 nationally.
